Bucharest is a vibrant city full of surprises for both young and old! But searching for those special places in Bucharest where children and grown ups can enjoy unforgettable moments can sometimes be a real challenge (maybe because of the traffic?!).
So our team got to work and compiled a list of our favorite things you can do as a family in Bucharest. Whether you’re here for the weekend or perhaps a bit longer, there are lots of stuff to keep you entertained.
From child-friendly museums, children playgrounds, educational sites to outdoor spaces and theme parks there is something for everyone in the family to enjoy in Bucharest. No matter your kids’ ages, there are amazing kid-friendly activities to do in Romania’s capital, Bucharest. Let’s get started!
1. Children’s Town (Orășelul Copiilor)
Orășelul Copiilor, literally translated to Children’s Town, is an amusement park located in Parcul Tineretului in the southern part of Bucharest. It is one of the most popular parks for children in the city due to its large number of attractions for all ages.
Here, fun areas blend harmoniously with relaxation areas, and ticketed games are complemented by free play areas.
There’s a wide variety of entertainment options for children of all ages, from an enclosed playground, to trampolines, bumblebees, go-carts, train rides and attractions for the older, adrenaline-loving kids.
Prices are charged separately for each attraction: a ride on the fast tower (which is right at the entrance) is 15 lei, the roller coaster costs 20 lei, the boat 10 lei, the mushrooms 10 lei and 15 minutes on the inflatable slides costs 15 lei.
There are also plenty of places to get something to eat or drink. There are boiled or baked street corn stalls as well as yummy doughnuts with various toppings or even a stall with classic sugar-coated twisted doughnuts, which are to die for.
Tip: if possible go during the working week as it can get quite crowded during weekends or holidays.
Location: Parcul Tineretului
2. Miramagica Herastrău
Another great choice for entertaining both young kids and teens is Miramagica in Herastrau, one of the largest public parks in Bucharest. The main attraction is the 25-metre-high Ferris wheel, which offers superb views over the park. Miramagica also includes trampolines, bubble cars, a train for the little ones and more.
There’s plenty to do to keep you busy for a few hours. But if that’s not enough… you’re still in Herastrau, one of the city’s best public parks. This park is great for relaxing and entertaining the whole family. Besides the fun places for kids, you can try a boat ride on the park’s lake, the playground on the lake’s island or stop at one of the many restaurants for lunch or dinner.
From the park you can enter the Village Museum, one of the best outdoor museums in Europe, where you can admire some stunningly beautiful rural houses from various regions of Romania and where children can discover how our ancestors lived.

3. Muzeul Satului (Village Museum)
The Village Museum is a fascinating place, where you can discover beautiful, old and well preserved rural houses from every region of the country. It’s a fascinating place where you can discover a bit of Romania’s history and learn how people lived back in the days when no electricity, smartphones, TV or any other gadgets and household appliances existed.
Children can also have a fun time chasing the parks many cats (beware, not all of them are friendly, though most are) or play at the playground, strategically placed next to a restaurant, where parents can enjoy a coffee while the little ones go down the slide.

4. Parcul Tei
Situated on the shore of Lake Tei, Tei Park is not very large, covering an area of only 7 hectares. But this makes it an interesting option for those looking for amusement parks in Bucharest, as the attractions are concentrated in a relatively small area.
The two main alleys of the park delimit three areas, where Romanian fairy tales are brought to life, creating a wonderful fairytale world. The park houses a world of fairy-tale characters and scenes, a concept where visitors will find Ileana Cosânzeana, Prince Charming and the Green Emperor, as well as the „Seven-headed Dragon”, the „Fairies” and the „Blue Bird”.
We recommend it to spend an afternoon with the family. The little ones can play and the older ones can sit by the lake in the shade. The main attractions are the wheel and for older children the roller coaster and the house of horrors.
5. The National History Museum “Grigore Antipa”
The Antipa Museum is organised on three levels. On the first two are dioramas with all kinds of animals, fish and birds. On the top floor you can see rocks, planets, skeletons of ‘dinosaurs’, insects and an exhibition about humans and the human body.
